We held the "Paradigm Shift in Universities: 6th Civil Strategy Symposium."

The 6th Civil Strategy Symposium was held on December 8-9, 2022, in Istanbul, in collaboration with Marmara University and the Civil Society Center (STMÜ), along with the State Issues and Local Governments Research and Application Center (KEYEM), the Economic and Cultural Cooperation Platform (EKİP), and the Civil Strategy Association.

The symposium brought together researchers, academics, representatives from civil society organizations, private sector representatives, and bureaucrats from public administration in the fields of civil society, governance, strategic management, and public administration.


With the motto "Focus on Collaboration, Start Change" the 6th Civil Strategy Symposium began at 10:00 AM with opening speeches by Symposium Organizing Committee Chair Prof. Dr. Yüksel Demirkaya and STMÜ Representative Council Member Ömer Faruk Terzi.


In his speech, Ömer Faruk Terzi emphasized, “By supporting each other, we can accomplish great things. This is in our history and our roots. The state is ours, the country is ours, the homeland is ours; for this, we can do better together. In this process, academic insight must certainly be utilized. With STMÜ, we aim to create a platform where collaboration between academia and civil society will generate strength that we can all benefit from.”

The first panel on “Civil Society and Intersectoral Collaboration Strategies” included Ömer Faruk Terzi, Ahmet Türköz, Director General of Civil Society Relations at the Ministry of Interior, Üsküdar Mayor Hilmi Türkmen, Dr. Rıza Süleymanoğlu Dinçer, Writer-Director Okan Özbay, and Mehmet Koç, President of the Entrepreneur Businessmen's Foundation/NEGMAR Maritime and Board Chairman. The panel discussed the following topics: Collaboration between Civil Society Organizations, the Private Sector, and Public Institutions; The Ministry of Interior’s Perspective on Civil Society; Municipalities and Civil Society; Evaluating Public-Civil Society Collaboration in Turkey in terms of the Future of Civil Society; Civil Society Needs within Digital Adaptation; and The Second Step of Entrepreneurship.

On the first day of the symposium, which started on December 8, a total of 5 sessions were held. With 23 sessions and contributions from 111 speakers, the symposium, held at the Göztepe Campus, concluded on December 9. The event saw great interest and participation from numerous public officials, private sector businesspeople, civil society members, academics, and students.
