Massive Palestine March from Hagia Sophia to Eminönü in Support of the Sumud and Freedom Flotillas

The Palestine Support Platform and IHH (Humanitarian Relief Foundation) organized a march in Istanbul to support the Sumud and Freedom Flotillas against the genocidal actions, blockade, and attacks of Israel in Gaza.
The event began after noon prayers at Hagia Sophia Mosque and concluded at Eminönü Square.

In response to the massacres and blockade Israel has carried out in Gaza for nearly two years, hundreds of activists from 44 countries and dozens of ships forming the Sumud and Freedom Flotillas set sail through international waters toward Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid and break the blockade.
However, Israel’s illegal attacks on the flotillas in international waters sparked strong reactions around the world.

Activists Brought to Istanbul

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan ordered the transfer of the Global Sumud Flotilla activists to Turkey.
Upon Erdoğan’s request, a total of 137 people, including 36 Turkish citizens, who were on the flotilla vessels, arrived in Istanbul with this mission.

Marches Held in Ankara as Well

Marches in support of Palestine were also held today in various major squares across Turkey.
Many citizens, especially in Ankara and Istanbul, gathered in the squares carrying Turkish and Palestinian flags, holding anti-Israel demonstrations.

Thousands of people — including members of civil society organizations affiliated with the Ankara Palestine Solidarity Platform (ANFIDAP), as well as the elderly, youth, and children — gathered in front of Melike Hatun Mosque to draw attention to the genocide in Gaza and to raise their voices against Israel.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, several members of parliament, and Ankara Governor Vasip Şahin also joined the march to support citizens.
Carrying Palestinian flags, the crowd chanted slogans against Israel and held banners reading “Humanity dies one step away, down with Israel” and “Muslims unite.”

Under tight security measures, the group began marching from Atatürk Boulevard toward the July 15 Kızılay National Will Square.
